NFT - KPOP 101

During my gap year, while learning programming, my cousin suggested I explore creating NFTs. Introduction

NFT Concept Creation: Bridging Worlds with Hanbok

In crafting this NFT project, I was inspired by the beauty of Korea’s traditional dress, the Hanbok. I envisioned a world where time travel merges the past with the present, allowing people from different backgrounds and eras to experience the elegance of Hanbok in their everyday lives. This project is not just about introducing Korean culture but also about reimagining a global, inclusive future where the Hanbok transcends borders and cultures. Through this collection, I invite people from all around the world to immerse themselves in a playful yet profound fusion of tradition and modernity, exploring a new dimension of fashion where Hanbok becomes a shared experience for all.

Building Layers

To generate over 10,000 unique images, I designed multiple image layers. These layers include variations for the body, eyes, nose, mouth, makeup, accessories, Hanboks, and more. By creating an extensive range of these elements, I ensured there were enough combinations to produce a diverse collection of over a thousand unique images on Procreate.

Generating the Images

To create 10,000 unique images from the layers I designed, I utilised HashLips Art Engine, an open-source tool that generates NFT collections by combining image layers with Javascript. The generated JSON files include essential details like the name, description, and attributes of each image, which are key for minting NFTs through an ERC721 contract.

Building Minting Websites

I developed minting websites for NFTs using React JS from the ground up. As part of my coding learning journey, I experimented with various minting website styles while deepening my understanding of NFTs.

Conclusion

Embracing Challenges

One of the most fulfilling aspects of this project was the opportunity to step into the unknown and challenge myself in an entirely new space. I’ve always loved pushing boundaries and exploring unfamiliar areas, and diving into blockchain technology was no exception.

Before this project, my knowledge of blockchain was minimal. However, I discovered how powerful and versatile this technology truly is through hands-on learning. From smart contracts and decentralised ownership to NFT metadata and minting mechanisms, I gained a deep appreciation for how blockchain is reshaping digital ownership and creativity.

Learnings

This project reinforced my love for problem-solving and continuous learning. Whether debugging smart contract errors, structuring metadata files, or ensuring seamless NFT generation, each challenge presented an opportunity to adapt, iterate, and grow.

Beyond the technical side, I also realised the potential of blockchain beyond NFTs, from decentralised applications to real-world asset tokenisation. This experience expanded my perspective on how blockchain can drive innovation across industries, and it excites me to see how these technologies will continue to evolve.

For me, design and technology are about more than just aesthetics or functionality; they are about exploration, innovation, and pushing limits. This NFT project was a testament to that mindset, and it has fueled my desire to keep embracing new challenges, learning new skills, and creating impactful digital experiences. 🚀
